What is the major or top priority of a day? What is your main goal? What is your ultimate destination?
Recently, the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh has shown excellent example of major and minor. After 26/11 attack in Mumbai, relationship between Pakistan and India were scratched and it was directed towards war level. Dr. Singh clearly justified, “Our major goal is to curb terrorist and terrorism, not to wage a war against Pakistan. Help and support us in achieving our major goal.”
I find that in every company, the major goal is set as achieving sales target or achieving production target or growth by a fixed percent. These are of major concern. Top management instead of focusing on major, they focus on minor. For example: Discussing about people, people who are coming late, uneven leaves, reasons behind failure and enter into blame game or criticizing people, blasting on people or creating unhealthy environment.
What is major in the company?
Making profit is the major thing. But, instead of that, you are focusing on minor issues.
Finally, at the end of the day, what is the outcome? This leadership is a meaningful leadership.
Even in personal life, suppose, you are travelling from home to office mode, you face a small accident; you lose temperament, start shouting and firing. Even though you are not badly hurt, you lose the control of yourself. You reach late to office, your state of mind is so disturbed that your half of the day is gone without any output. Who has suffered?
At home, you are at the dinning table to have the delicious food and you are hungry too. Dish is served to you. One of the delicacies is with less sugar or salt. Your temperament is lost; you fire and get up from the dinning table. You decide not to eat and go away from the home. Who is disturbed? What was major and what has become major?
In some of the cases, priority of the day is changed because of many reasons and at the end of the day, outcome is nothing. You were busy. YES. What was the major of the day? It turned up to be minor.
In personal life or professional life, always remember, what is your major? Minor never become major at the end of the day.
Know what your major is and be after it. Never allow minor to take over you.
