Steve Jobs said that what made Apple Apple was not so much what they chose to build but all the projects they chose to ignore.
Write a Stop-Doing List. Every productive person obsessively sets “To-Do” Lists. But those who play at world class level also record what they commit to stop doing.
Doing with hard work is not everything;real beauty emerges from selection of what not we are doing.
A ‘No’ uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a ‘Yes’ merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.
You need to avoid temptations and facetious success. You also need to avoid ego which is power centric. Once the power you hold on to has gone what will happen to you?
Avoiding all that is superficial or that offers a few moments of joy and pride is never the life you are seeking and for the readers of WIN TO LEAD over series we don’t recommend such an approach to life.
When the poet makes his perfect selection of a word, he is endowing the word with life. Role of poet is to select right words and to avoid words which could not lead to final creation at its best. And that is what Steve Jobs demonstrated in ample measure. He was a person of great vision. He believed in the precise detail of every step. He was methodical and careful about everything –and lived a perfectionist to the end.
You must know your ability when to discard those that hinders your progress and capabilities. What you need is to focus on what you can do without waiting for the sound of acclaim. Acclaim is a distraction. Let the world say, Wow! You are a person with a job to do and you will do as there’s no stopping you.
Think what will create results is your ability to ignore the urge to do nothing or to do something that leads to mediocrity. Indeed the best thing you can do is the right thing and the worst is doing nothing. Though it sounds simple, you must try to be the best person you can, making the best choices, making the most of the talents God has given.
