Over 20 Indian CEOs will soon be auctioned online. Through an initiative called ‘Shadow a CEO’, the Hyderabad based Indian School of Business (ISB) will allow its students to bid in an online auction to connect them with their favorite CEO.
The objective of this auction is not just to provide an opportunity to the current and future business leaders to network, but also to involve corporate India in a social cause. Funds raised from the auction will go to an NGO of the CEOs’ choice. But, the good news is, unlike the typical auctions, in this auction, if a student fails to win a bid, the money will be refunded.
The students of ISB are saying that this will be a huge value addition to their career and a great learning experience. “The initiative has been designed by the students themselves to combine a business goal and a social cause. It allows students to understand the importance of doing business that not only helps an individual but society as well,” ISB Dean Ajit Rangnekar told Times of India.
The initiative has been designed to be a part of the ‘Joy of Giving Week’, a national movement. It is planned between September 21 and 23. The programme is open to all the 575 students of ISB. According to Rangnekar, around 20 CEOs have confirmed and they expect to reach 10 more.
Ashish Pedaprolu, a student of ISB hoping to win the bid says, “I would love to spend a day with Narayana Murthy, but I am open to any CEO from the IT industry.” He has already decided that he wants to spend the day knowing what a CEO does during full working hours, key performance of the company in 24 hours/48 hours, market indicators and long term and full term strategy.
